AFMLTA Conference 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — mltansw at 3:23 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Hi Everyone. The AFMLTA Conference in Darwin was great. There are so many things to share, which should be popping up here throughout the week. AFMLTA Assembly was another great learning experience for me and I can assure the AFMLTA are working for us. There is a lot of work being done on the political front and the National Curriculum is keeping everyone busy. Angela Scarino a completion date of 19 July for the Shape Paper, therefore we should see it soon after that. The next process is to develop proceedures and guidelines for the writers and then the curriculum documents can be written, so there are still a few steps in the process before we get to see a syllabus.
I will be personally encouraging those who went to the conference to share some of their new found ideas here so keep checking.
There are a couple of new faces on the AFMLTA Committee, so the new committee is: President Sherryl Saunders, Vice President: Kylie Farmer, President Elect: Matthew Absalom, Secretary: Ruth Fielding, Treasurer: Kris Paul, Promotions Officer: Fulvia Valvasori, Babel Editor: Anne-Marie Morgan, Communications Officer: Greg Dabelstein
AFMLTA has a teachers list operating. You need to send an email to teachers@afmlta.asn.au to be part of it. All emails from AFMLTA will be sent to this address.
Just a teaching idea I got from the conference to finish. Get your students to write a topical teenage magazine giving an Australian perspective on teenage life. Assign students to roles and have them write different sections of the magazine & then put it together as one magazine.  Thanks Sharon
